'There Is Nothing To Hold Onto'
31.5x31.5x2 inches

Oil paint on stretched canvas, frame made from salvaged wood and old house paint.

I find myself attached to forgotten things. Ones that were once loved by another, but time seems to do that to all. It strips away adoration and you're left with just things. Sure, they may carry stains, or loose threads, but those memories have since faded. The mind is the same. You may not recall what happened on day x, but you’re left with the feeling. It becomes a weight that stands alone, and you’re not sure where to place it. And so, it exists in all places, without origin.
'Light Became Flame and Honeybee, Wasp'
43.5 x 19.5 x 1.875 inches

Collaged oil paint scrapings, crushed mudbrick from the 1940’s, and crushed campfire charcoal on stretched canvas, in wooden frame.

I had a dream where I awoke in a field of honeybees. I was existing in a space where time had either stretched, or fallen to pieces. With the glisten of the light on my lashes, I held a hand out to shield the sun. All around me were beings, glowing of amber and light. Detail was no more, simply there was with and without. I was beside myself. Then I saw past the light to skies of ash. The light became flame and honeybee, wasp. I began grasping for them, only to reveal palms of dust.
    Sunken Places Diptych
16.5x28.5 inches [each] oil paint on stretched canvas in solid oak frame
Sold

I am sure there was a time before how I am now. A time before it all collapsed. Before the intrusions. I am sure there was a me before now, yet I do not know her. She may have laughed more than I do, or loved deep within. She wouldn't have known the sunken places I do, but would she miss them if she knew?
    Isolation Self Portrait, 2020
29x47in oil paint on mounted canvas and wooden frame

Isolation is not the loneliness I had expected. Infact, I quite enjoy the company of myself. This differs greatly from when I was younger. I was perpetually alone and lonely, now I am simply alone.
